The Littlewood Players are on Sirona Dental Company's publication for the month of October!

"...The very young musicians in this orchestra, some of whom are still attending primary school age, play to a very high musical standard and make at least one live appreance each term. Dr. Goh was able to organize and finance an Austrian tour for this young orchestra with appearances at Salzburg and Vienna.

The Salzburg concert, which was a great success, was held at the Schloss Mirabell in the marble hall, which was formerly the ballroom of the prince archbishop. All the audience, which also included Salzburg's mayor, Dr. Heinz Schaden, was enthralled by the orchestra's performance..

Brendan Goh in particular held the audience spellbound with a very moving performance of one of Joseph Haydn's compositions for solo cello. Sirona sponsored the reception of the orchestra in the famous marble hall, thereby contributing to a successful setting for the concert."

Marble Hall Performance, Salzburg

We're back from Austria! We had two performances during our tour and our first performance in Salzburg was good!

That's us! In the beautiful Marble Hall for our Salzburg performance!

Due to the weather, we could not perform at the scenic Mirabell Gardens. Instead, we moved indoors to the beautiful Marble Palace Hall (next to the Gardens) and were amazed at how beautiful the venue was!

Best of all, our teachers said that the acoustics (it's the sound bouncing off the walls) really enhanced the sound coming from our instruments. We believe them, because judging from the audience response, we not only recieved applause, we heard them cheering for us!

The seats were all occupied with our family and locals who we managed to impress. Yay!

We're concentrating very hard, making sure we play well...

...and spreading the beauty of music to everyone!

It was a good experience to play in Salzburg for the local audience and we were encouraged to know that we've improved so much and can perform in countries like Austria.

Austria 2010 Pre-tour Concert, Singapore

We started our Austria 2010 tour Singapore performance on a high note with an intimate evening on 2 June at the Chamber, Arts House.

Our families and closest friends spent that Wednesday evening with us; we played our Austria 2010 repertoire for them before we present it to the Mayor of Salzburg and local audiences in Austria for the Salzburg and Vienna leg of the tour.

Expectations were high as we spent much time and effort practising and perfecting what is our most important performance yet. Music was not the only thing that we learnt, we grew closer together, built friendships and experienced what it is like play as one.

The hours or sectional and orchestral rehearsals paid off as we played confidently and steadily throughout the entire 90 minute performance. Even the duets (Su Yean, Luke), trios (Julie, Dana, Chris) and solo (Brendan) sounded convincing enough. And judging from the applause, we all did good!

Now we are only 2 short weeks' away to meeting at the airport and flying off to Austria. We can't wait! Yay!

One Day Away!

After all the hours of practise, our first performance will be tomorrow - 2 June!

We will be performing our Austria 2010 repertoire to our dear family and friends tomorrow at the Arts House. Judging from our full dress rehearsal, it is going to be an exciting show to help kick off our tour.

Just a couple of weeks ago, we had a full dress rehearsal at the beautiful Chamber, Arts House venue.

From playing as individuals, we are now playing as one - the Littlewood Players! We are really happy to get to where we are now; we want to thank our teachers for helping us to improve.

We may be small, but we can definitely play very well!

It is all set to be a good performance tomorrow evening for the Littlewood Players!

53 More Days!!

How time flies! 53 more days (and counting) before we meet at Changi Airport with all our bags packed and ready to go Austria!

We have been busy rehearsing, we do forget sometimes that the day is approaching. It is so exciting - thinking about our performances at Salzburg and Vienna, but also the things we will see and all the fun we will have.

Sometimes, rehearsals can be tiring, but thinking about our trip keeps us excited!

The world famous Mirabell Gardens - that's where we'll be performing for the Salzburg Mayor and the local audience!

We don't see buildings like this in Singapore.

We'll also be visiting an Organic Farm. I think we'll be trying their freshly-made cheese and milk.

Dark places can be scary sometimes, but the ride around the Hallein Salt Mines looks more like fun! Another amazing sight to look forward to in Austria!

It really is exciting to think about these places we will get to see in person. But for now, we'd better focus on playing our notes right.

...Oops, better pay attention, Mr. Peev is watching!

4 more months to Austria 2010!

It's already the end of February 2010! That means we only have four more months before flying to Salzburg and Vienna!

We are excited, we have really been practising hard. There are sectionals and orchestral practises. Orchestra practise is different from sectionals because we all come together and play in a big group. We go to the YMS Auditorium to practise because there is a big stage for us to play on. Our Moms and Dads can also sit in cushion seats and listen to us practise.

Time to pack up!

Phew.. that was another good rehearsal. We'll continue to practise and look forward to the day we take an aeroplane to Austria!!

Bye Bye 2009!

On 19 December, we were treated to a nice dinner and fun time at Team GPA's Gala Ball 2009.

At least it was a good break from all the rehearsals we've been having to prepare for our Austria tour in June! The host of the dinner was Mr. Gurmit Singh. He is always on TV and is a very funny man.

He made all of us go on stage to play a dancing game. There was music and when he was dancing, we are supposed to follow and dance with him. But when the music stopped, we cannot move.

But Gurmit Singh is very funny, so he tried to make us laugh and move.

He tried to pretend and poke our eyes...

... he even jumped from behind and screamed loudly to scare us.

But in the end, we won prizes.

Then, we ate our dinner and continued to play other games and have fun together...

...maybe will we have another GPA dinner in 2010?

Our Christmas Charity Performance!

This year, we performed a Christmas Charity performance for the patients at the Geylang SingHealth Eldercare Patient Centre!

We played Christmas songs and our audience even clapped along to some of the songs we played!

After our performance, we cut some cake and gave the cake and drinks to our audience. They were happy to hear us perform and asked us questions like 'how old are you?' and 'what school do you go to?'.

Overall, it was good that we can help spread some Christmas joy to them and they thought we were very cute.

I feel very excited about the trip to Vienna and Salzburg. I've never been there before. I'm more excited about Salzburg more because I heard that we are going to Mozart's birthplace. Actually, i am more worried about the concert because I'm not really good in the instrument, violin. I just started learning this year. It was great to have Tanglewood Music School to organize such wonderful trip to go with my friends from Littlewood.

Well, going to Vienna has always been my dream when I had a passion for music.
So, I guess I really wish to go there and see the place where music was born. One of my favorite musicians is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. So I will be really excited to visit Salzburg, where Mozart was born and where he died.
But I know saying all these are too early. This year I am primary 5, while next year I am primary 6, the year I am having my PSLE. I really hope my dad and mom will allow me and my sister, Clio to go. (As you all know, the charge is not a simple sum of $) So let's all hope my dad will allow!!! :)

I feel excited and happy about the trip to Austria. I feel lucky to be playing overseas and for the important people in singapore.

I like the rehearsals for the concert and enjoy performing although its sometimes painful due to the back pains (Ouch). I would like to go to Austria for the masterclasses and the food! (Yum!) One of the concerts I enjoyed was the night safari.

I hope to be able to go and perform in Austria!

"The little woodplayers has more than twenty pupils inside the orchestra. I am playing in the first violin place. My brother is playing a cello in the orchestra. The orchestra is own by Tangle music school. We are playing songs that are called, Walzin Matilda, Jazzin about, the first noell and Tre Gornee. I don't know how to spell some of them and only can name some.

We have been playing Walzin Matilda. The rehearsal always end at nine or eight. When we went to the zoo we play only two songs called Walzin Matilda and Jazzin About. Sir Narthan came and watch us. There were two body guides with him. He came from an big elephat its ears are huge!

The second time, It was at night. It was so crowdered there. I could see alot of faces and we need to play two times :( My friend didn't come :'( The litte wood was excited because on two thousand and ten we will be going to Salzburg and viena. Its going to be fun! but we need to practise more than we can play solo. Littlewood loves to play outside hall where we play songs.

We learnt that we must work hard to go for a trip on June 2010 = two thousand and ten"
